Local Conditions
Blackwater Sound side: shallow, tannin-stained and low-flow. Mangrove tannins and stirred sediment bond to waterlines fast — sound-side boats need stain attention every 4–8 weeks, not quarterly.
Reef and ocean side: open Atlantic spray and full UV. Salt film dries onto gelcoat and brightwork between weekends, accelerating oxidation on boats that only get used Saturday and Sunday.
On the trailer: Key Largo is the Keys' trailer-boat capital — weekend boats running down from Miami, stored in driveways and lots. Trailered hulls streak at the waterline, cowls oxidize facing the sun, and frames collect road grime on top of salt.
And when storm season parks a boat for weeks in a hurricane hole, sitting is its own kind of damage. We build storage-prep and post-storm rinse plans for exactly that.
Where We Work
If she's kept in Key Largo, we service her. Here's where we work most:
Bluefin Rock Harbor Marina · bay side
Wet slips and dry stack at Rock Harbor. High-traffic marina — we coordinate slip access with the dock office and work around fuel-dock hours.
Marina del Mar · MM 100 area
Docks plus yard slots. Popular spot for correction and ceramic work while boats are already out for hull or engine service.
Gilbert's Resort & Marina · sound side
Blackwater Sound exposure means tannin banding shows up fast here. Waterline cleaning is our most requested Gilbert's service.
Ocean Reef Club · private club
Member club at the north end. Service is coordinated through the club marina office with member sponsorship, under full club vendor policies.
Blackwater Sound docks & moorings
Private docks and hurricane-hole moorings along the sound. Tannin and low-flow film are the constant battle — we schedule waterline work on a shorter cycle here.
Canal-front homes & private lifts
Key Largo's canal communities — lift-side washes, wax rotations and full corrections without moving the boat.
Trailered boats at homes, lots & ramps
Hull sides, transom, cowling and trailer frame at your storage spot. Pre-season prep before launching is one of our most-booked Key Largo jobs.
Storage yards & dry stack
Boats in dry storage collect dust and streak differently than in-water boats. We adjust chemistry and protection to stored finishes.
