Islamorada is where we live, where the shop is, and where the majority of our hulls sit. From Islamorada Yacht Village to the canal lifts on Upper Matecumbe — if she's docked in the village, we've probably already detailed a boat next to her.

Local Conditions
Islamorada sits between Florida Bay and the Atlantic. Bay-side slips see tannin-stained, low-flow water that films a hull fast. Atlantic-side docks get full ocean salt spray and harder UV exposure from open sky.
Canal boats — and Islamorada has more canal-front lifts than any other Upper Keys community — get the worst of both: limited water exchange, concentrated humidity, and zero wind-drying. Gelcoat chalks in months, not years.
We've detailed every configuration here. The wash frequency, wax rotation and protection recommendation changes based on which water your boat sits on — and we'll tell you which schedule fits.
Where We Work
If your boat is in the village, we service it. Here's where we work most:
Islamorada Yacht Village · MM 79
Full-service marina with wet slips and dry stack. We work with their dockmaster under vendor access policies and service multiple vessels here each week.
Whale Harbor Channel Marina · MM 74
Atlantic-side access with heavier salt exposure. Boats here oxidize faster; we recommend quarterly wax or sealant minimum.
Church Key · MM 83
Smaller dock community with tighter vendor scheduling. We coordinate directly with ownership and confirm slip access ahead of time.
Hawks Cay Resort & Marina · Duck Key
Scheduled service for resort guests and private slip owners. Access coordinated through the marina office.
Plantation Key canals
MM 78–82 canal systems. Low-flow water means faster film buildup. Lift-side washes are our most common job here.
Upper Matecumbe Key
Bay-side and ocean-side residential docks. Bay-side boats need more frequent waterline attention; ocean-side boats need faster UV protection cycles.
Lower Matecumbe Key
Southern end of the village. Mix of lift boats and in-water slips. Some docks have limited water access — we confirm and plan around it.
Private seawall docks & homeowner lifts
No marina, no rules — just a gate code and a slip number. We confirm access the day before and handle the rest.

Home Base
IYMS was founded in Islamorada and operates from the MM 80 area. Kevin Gardner has detailed boats in this village for over a decade. When we say "we'll be there tomorrow" — we mean from five minutes away, not an hour's drive from Miami.
That proximity means same-day response for urgent needs, routine work slotted into the week without long leads, and a crew that knows which docks have water, which gates need codes, and which slips flood at king tide.
