The Owner
Kevin Gardner built IYMS on the water he works on.
Kevin has spent more than a decade detailing boats in the Florida Keys — from 20-foot center consoles on trailers to 80-foot motor yachts in marina slips. He founded Islamorada Yacht Management Solutions from a simple observation: Keys owners were losing weekends and haul-out slots to boatyards for work that could be done at the dock.
He oversees every quote, scope of work, and finished result from an IYMS visit, and holds a Florida yacht broker license (#12079) for owners buying or selling. When your hull gets corrected or coated, the person accountable for the finish is the same person who priced it.
That structure is deliberate. Subcontracted crews optimize for speed. Owner-operated crews optimize for the phone call six months later, when the finish still looks right.

How We Work
Four promises on every visit.

Promise 02
Documented everything.
We provide written notes on oxidation, salt film, brightwork condition — and anything unusual we can see from the dock when useful. On a recent sale-prep job, that habit caught a live-well drain leak before survey.
Promise 03
Honest tiering.
Maintenance, correction, or protection — we place your hull in the tier it actually belongs in. If a wash solves it, we quote a wash. If oxidation needs compounding before any wax or ceramic, we say so first.
Promise 04
Respect the dock.
We follow each marina's vendor and access policies, confirm slip numbers and gate codes in advance, plan around your dock's water and power, and carry proof of insurance for any dockmaster or property manager who asks.

Why Mobile
We started IYMS because the yard model was broken.
Walk any Keys boatyard in season and you'll see it: hulls on stands for weeks, owners paying haul-out and storage, finishes corrected under tarps between rain delays. Meanwhile the slip sits empty and the weekends disappear.
Salt spray, intense UV and year-round humidity already work on a hull every single day. We didn't think the maintenance model should add weeks of downtime on top of that. So we built the service around the dock: we bring the equipment, match the chemistry to the material, document the result, and leave the boat where it lives — in the water, on the lift, or on the trailer.
More than a decade later, that's still the whole business model.

The leak we caught mid-detail.
During a six-hour sale-prep interior detail on a 1971 Hatteras 36, we found a leak in the live-well drain plumbing — photographed, documented and disclosed before survey instead of discovered during it.
Gelcoat correction · Mangrove Marina, Tavernier
One mobilization, two jobs done.
While a Formula 380 Super Sport was out for engine service, we completed a full detail and two-stage gelcoat correction from hardtop to waterline in the same yard-slot window.
