Storm Season in the Keys Is Not Optional Planning
Living in the Florida Keys means storm season is a real and annual consideration. A vessel that isn’t properly prepared for a named storm or even a strong tropical system can sustain serious damage — or worse. We handle the full storm preparation process: removing canvas and covers, securing or removing dock lines, coordinating with marinas, and positioning vessels when necessary. After the storm passes, we’re back at your boat for a thorough post-storm inspection and insurance documentation before you can even get back to the Keys. On the concierge side, we also make sure your vessel is exactly how you want it when you arrive — regardless of the weather.

How We Do It
Pre-Storm Securing
When a storm system is tracking toward the Keys, we move quickly. Canvas, biminis, and covers come down and get stowed. Additional dock lines are run in the right configuration. Electronics and valuables get secured below. We coordinate with marina staff and follow each marina’s specific storm protocol — we know the requirements at the facilities across the Keys.
Vessel Positioning & Hurricane Hole Coordination
For more serious storm threats, repositioning your vessel to a protected location may be the right call. We coordinate with marinas and know which hurricane holes and facilities in the Keys offer the best protection. We handle the logistics so you don’t have to manage it from a distance.
Post-Storm Inspection & Documentation
After the storm passes, we’re at your vessel as soon as it’s safe to do so. We document the condition of the vessel with photos and a written inspection report — hull, systems, deck, rigging, dock lines. If there’s damage, we have the documentation your insurance company will need, and we’ll coordinate any immediate repairs.
Insurance Documentation Support
We photograph and document pre-storm condition as well as post-storm findings. This is not just useful — it’s often the difference between a smooth insurance claim and a contested one. We can also communicate directly with your insurer or adjuster if needed.
Concierge & Pre-Departure Readiness
Beyond storm season, we offer on-call concierge service for owners heading to the Keys. Tell us when you’re arriving — we’ll run a systems check, top off the fuel, load your provisions, and have everything ready. You board and you go. No time lost troubleshooting or reprovisioning at the dock.
